I dunno man, maybe they meant to do like, a commentary on gender & whatnot? like the way I read it is, men don’t respect women. they thought he was a woman so they treated him like an object. when they found out he was a man, they were humiliated in a sense cause they would never treat a man like that. They have more respect than that. so they were upset not necessarily because they are transphobic, but because they see women as lower than them? I dunno maybe I’m reading into it wrong.

It doesn’t matter what the intention is. It is transmisogynistic regardless. 

If a major plot device of your movie is “Man dresses as a woman. When man in dress is revealed to be a woman, other men attack him for tricking them” you are perpetuating dangerous and violent transmisogynistic story tropes. 

Trans women being outed can actually get them killed. The sorts of story tropes that this movie has reflect that literally deadly reality.
