Remember when I mentioned in my review of The Hobbit that I would LOVE to see more female characters added into future movies?
WISH GRANTED. The lovely lady above is Tauriel.
Tauriel, a SilvanElf of Mirkwood, is a character created for the upcoming films of The Hobbit. She is a warrior and the head of the Elven guard of Mirkwood. She knows how to wield any weapon, but the primary weapons that she uses are a bow and arrow and two daggers. She is described as lethal and deadly. Tauriel has been confirmed to be a high ranking and combat-ready member Mirkwood’s army of Elves.
Behind the Scenes
- Evangeline Lilly will play Tauriel, in the upcoming The Hobbit film adaptations by Peter Jackson.
- Peter Jackson has confirmed that she will have no romantic connection to Legolas.
There are some whispers that a Kili/Tauriel romance may be on the board:
Though it wasn’t touched on in the Comic-Con panel, an article in Total Film gave away the storyline of a Kili-Tauriel romance. “I guess he knows nothing can ever happen,” Aidan Turner, who plays Kili, said. “She’s about 20ft tall and he’s only two!”
So it’ll be interesting to see how that plays out.
Over all, I’m super interested to see this awesome lady in the films. <3
Though as I have learned, avoid her tag if you aren’t in the mood for a fight. There be sexism. Lots and lots of sexism. Yikes.
