I’ve talked briefly about Dany and Sansa before.
Now, I’ve only seen the first season of the show, so my opinion of GoT is limited to that.
The world of Game of Thrones is a pretty patriarchal and sexist one. The gender roles and discrimination against women is rampant and horrible. Now this is an effort to make the world feel “historically accurate” or something (yeah, how the dragons fit into historically accurate world is beyond me.)
In general, I tend to prefer feminist media where the way the world functions itself is feminist, or post-feminism in some way. Where there is gender equality present already, and GoT does not do this.
What it DOES do however, it take this very sexist framework and society and we get women who are able to scrape out some form of agency and and power in spite of all that. The women are complex and interesting on top of it all too. GoT gives us a really sexist world, and then presents us with women who effectively fight the Patriarchy in various ways to succeed and survive.
