The song “I want you back” irks me
So, basically the girl dumps the guy because he wasn’t cool enough or crap. (She also mentions that she was hoping that the guy would be miserable and crying over her.) But then she sees him with another girl and gets jealous and starts talking about how so much better she is than the other girl.
The music video is even worse because they treat the completely innocent girl like crap, while the singer, who dump the guy because he wasn’t cool, who dump the guy hoping he would be sad afterwards, who dump the guy thinking she would find someone else better, goes around the video acting like she’s the shit.
I have no problem with getting back together songs, but I usually like them because the singers sing about learning the errors of their ways. Basically, I made a mistake, I was a fool yadda yadda yadda…
However this song is just “I dump you for vain reasons, I’m not going to apologize, but I don’t like the new chick you with so get back with me” :/
